Comments:
The complete title is "Stan Kenton 50th Anniversary Celebration Back To Balboa". It was recorded on May 30, 1991. It was a four day concert by Kenton alumni. This 5 CD set contains the highlights of those four days. The above listed songs are the ones that Maynard performs on. The interview on disc 5 is of Shorty Rogers and Buddy Childers, trumpet players who were with Kenton. They talk about Maynard and the song "Maynard Ferguson" that Shorty Rogers wrote as a feature for him. This interview is found on the right channel at about the 42 minute spot. Disc 5 contains only interviews with the Kenton alumni and is divided into the left and right channels so as to contain more interviews. This set is excellent for Kenton fans. Maynard fans will enjoy the tracks above. Maynard plays very well on this set.
